Update

Well the new CDMA link did not work at Phosphate Hill, so I have been away while all the scam was happening.

Here is the original message that Gary sent to our members. Please if you are not a member, and have horses advertised on other sites then take notice of the following post as it could save you a horse and a lot of money.

Some members are getting the following response to their ads :GOOD DAY SELLER, I M PURCHASING THIS YOUR ITEM WHITOUT NO DELAY WILL YOU ACCEPT MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER CHECK AS A METHOD OF PAYMENT IF YOU WILL ACCEPT IT, AND I TO KNOW THE FINAL PRICE OF THE FIRM MAIL BACK WITH YOUR CONTACT ADDRESS SO THAT I WILL ARRANGE YOUR PAYMENT IMMEDIATELLY.. NAME : ADDRESS: COUNTRY: ZIPCODE: CITY: NB: AND IF YOU ARE AGREED WITH THE ASKING PRICE OF THE FIRM I'LL APPRECIATE IF YOU CAN FORWARD ME PICTURES OF THE ITEM.AND GET BACK TO ME WITH THE INFORMATION..

If you get one of these responses then please do not reply to it. It appears to be some type of "Phishing" trip.

I have e-mailed the so called original senders asking for details about themselves and who they work for. So far I have had no response, as I expected.

For your own security, do not put your details in your ads. The contact the owner section below your ad is for people to make inquiries to you and introduce themselves without putting you at risk.

You will then be able to decide if you want to give out your details or not.

If you suspect the offer to buy is fake, ask them for their details and a number you can call them on. If it is genuine they should give their phone number, if not, trash their e-mail.

Thanks to Pam for raising this matter.

Hi there

There is heaps of that happening over here in NZ and the world.
They go right through to sending contefeit cheques for some of the horses that off course bounce. Ive received some before but put them in the rubbish another mate took them to the police station and reported them.
People dont know it takes them a month to clear and by then some horses have even been sent and then receive bills for transporting or its cost the person heaps to clear the cheque as well. Most the time they say someone owes me this so they are sending the money to you and can you please send the rest back to me and loose out even more when the cheque is bounced in a months time and they have already sent the rest of the money to these people.

So please make sure people know by doing what you are doing and not reply to them as they are big fraud thing that started in the USA a few years back.

Thanks for letting us know though

regards

Hi Gary, we have had someone email a few times about buying our horse
thought it was abit fishy we did send a couple back asking who they were and
a phone number to contact them so that we could talk them have kept going
around in circles with no details given to us . The only thing we have done
before we caught on is that L eah has given a address out Horse people
like to think they can trust as we do alot of dealings over the phone hope
you can find whoever it is .
Regards Heather.

No worries, I have had this problem in the past, where they got horse info from my web site. I replied to them, but to cut a long story a bit shorter - I waited for the bank cheque to arrive, which it did, I banked it, but my bank advised me to wait before sending any money, for it too clear, of course it was a fake, but a very good one, even had the bank fooled. Because I didn't act on it straight away, they started sending me threats, saying they would send the FBI around etc., I wrote back and said, great I'll have the kettle on - of course nothing came of it.
I'll be putting a couple of classifieds on soon. Merilyn
